Fit with Dacorum Borough Council’s vision (sic )
Introduction
In late 2004 Dacorum Borough Council agreed
a set of strategic aims to guide the work of
the Council for the next four years:
• To be an excellent Council.
• To encourage civic pride and an

active community.

• To provide affordable housing and
protect green space.
• To support the local economy and
employment.
Hemel 2020 fully supports work towards
achieving all of the Council’s strategic aims.
We want to make sure future planning and
development in Hemel Hempstead takes
full account of these objectives. We want:
• Developments that ensure quality
spaces, design and materials.
• Public areas that are safe and easy

to maintain.

• The provision of essential affordable
and key worker housing.
The regeneration of Maylands is central
to the Council’s economic ambitions.

In February 2006 Dacorum Borough Council launched a new regeneration vision for Hemel Hempstead, built as a new town some 50 years ago.

The vision is about building on the successes and strengths of Hemel Hempstead in order to create new opportunities and to craft the right legacy for future generations.

Thornfield Properties Plc has been approved as the preferred developer to work with Dacorum Borough Council and other development interests in taking forward the project, estimated at around £350 million. The Vision

160,000 sq ft of retail space?? There must be more than this empty in the town at the moment , 12 shops alone in the new development by Debenhams !! Did Debenhams know this would happen when they agreed to go into the store , What does Asda think of a new foodstore on their doorstep , or perhaps it will be Asda , see Thorntons

A few of the empty shops (15 ) in Hemel at the moment these are 20,00sqft ? and they can't let them !!
